How much does a wedding dress typically cost in Denmark, and what does it cost with you?

A wedding dress typically costs 8,000-20,000 kr. in Denmark. Simple dresses are around 3,000-5,000 kr., and designer collections start at 30,000 kr. At Budget Dreams wedding dresses start at 1,000 kr., and designer models are sold at up to 70% off, because we only have one piece of each model. Come by the showroom in Hvidovre and see how far your budget goes. See the cheap wedding dresses on sale.

How much is your cheapest wedding dress, and is it a real wedding dress?

Our cheapest wedding dresses cost around 1,000 kr., and they are real wedding dresses, not leftovers. By comparison, a budget dress in ordinary Danish bridal shops starts at around 3,000-5,000 kr. Allow a little extra for alterations, from 250 kr. with us. Look in the lowest price group on the site, or tell us your amount when you come to Hvidovre. Start with the cheapest wedding dresses in our outlet.

Your wedding dresses look expensive – can I actually afford to shop with you?

Yes, most likely: the dresses look expensive because they are designer dresses, but they do not cost designer prices with us. We buy single pieces from stock and discontinued collections, which is why the same dress can cost up to 70% below the normal price. Tell us your budget when you arrive, and we will only bring dresses within it. That way the day is fun instead of awkward. See how far your money goes among our cheap wedding dresses.

What price range are your wedding dresses in?

Our wedding dresses cost from about 1,000 kr. at the lowest end up to a few thousand kroner for the most expensive designer models. Most of the shop is well below what a similar dress costs new in an ordinary bridal shop, where the mid-range is 8,000-20,000 kr. You can filter by price on brudekjoleoutlet.dk before you drive to Hvidovre. Start by filtering all our dresses by price.

Should I tell the consultant my real budget for the wedding dress?

Yes, and give the highest amount you can stretch to, not a lower one to be on the safe side. If we hear the wrong number, we bring the wrong dresses, and then we waste your time. We do not use the number to push you up. Because our wedding dresses start at 1,000 kr., there is almost always something in the price group you mention. Read more advice in our answers about budget and choices.

What do I do if I am shown wedding dresses above my budget?

Say so straight away and ask for the dresses to be taken off the rail. Once you have tried a dress you cannot afford, everything else is measured against it, and that makes for a bad day. With us we only bring dresses in your price group, unless you ask for something else. If it happens anyway, tell us, and we will clear them away. Stick to wedding dresses within your budget, and enjoy the day.

What extra costs should I expect on top of the price of the wedding dress?

Allow for alterations, which typically cost 1,500-5,000 kr. in Denmark, and accessories: a veil at 500-2,000 kr. and shoes, underwear and jewellery together often 2,000-4,000 kr. Cleaning after the wedding is the cost everyone forgets. With us alterations start at 250 kr., because the tailor works in-house, and we give you the price before the work begins. Read about cleaning the wedding dress, so it is not forgotten.

Are alterations included in the price of the wedding dress?

No, alterations are not included in the price of the wedding dress, because they are priced according to what needs doing, and that is how it works across the industry. On the other hand, we have our own in-house tailor and start at 250 kr., while the national average for a wedding dress is around 1,735 kr. You get the price once the tailor has seen the dress on you with your shoes on. Read more about tailoring and alterations.

Why are designer wedding dresses so expensive?

Designer wedding dresses are expensive because they contain many hours of handwork: lace applied in a pattern, beads sewn on one at a time, and a built-in corset constructed in layers. On top of that comes better-quality fabric and a name that costs money. The normal price is often 30,000-50,000 kr. With us you get the same dresses from stock and discontinued collections for far less. See our wedding dresses from well-known designers.

Can the price of a wedding dress be negotiated?

Rarely in an ordinary bridal shop, because the price is set by the supplier. With us, the prices are outlet prices from the start, so there is no extra layer to cut away. If a wedding dress has picked up a stain or a mark after many fittings, we look at the price, and we tell you so ourselves. Ask us instead what you get for your money. Read about it in our answers about quality.

Do you give a discount if I buy wedding dress, veil and shoes together?

We have no fixed package price, but ask us when you are holding it all in your hands. We would rather send you home with a complete look than earn 200 kr. more on a veil. Another advantage of buying everything in one place is that the colours match, and you can only see that by holding things up against the dress. See our veils and bridal accessories.

How can you sell designer wedding dresses at up to 70% off?

We can give up to 70% off because we buy single pieces of designer wedding dresses from designer stock, sample collections and discontinued collections. There is no middleman, no factory order and no waiting time that we need to charge for. The dress is new, but it is no longer new in the factory's catalogue, and that is the whole difference. Come and feel the fabric yourself in Hvidovre. See the dresses from well-known designers.

Is 70% off a wedding dress too good to be true?

No, not when you can see the dress, touch the fabric and find the shop by its CVR number. It is too good to be true when the price is 400 DKK on a website with no return address and photos borrowed from the designer's catalogue. Our wedding gowns hang in the showroom in Hvidovre, and the shop stands behind its name, address and CVR number. Come in and see what the discount covers. Read more in our answers about safety and trust.

Is it cheaper to rent than to buy a wedding dress?

Not always: renting a wedding dress typically costs 3,500-5,300 kr. in Denmark and from around 3,900 kr. in Copenhagen, while our own wedding dresses start at 1,000 kr. With us, buying is therefore often cheaper than renting elsewhere, and the dress is yours afterwards. If you would rather rent, we do that in our sister shop EnkleBrudekjoler.dk from 950 kr. Read more in our answers about renting a wedding dress.

Do I have to pay VAT or customs if I live in Sweden and buy a wedding dress in Denmark?

No, you don't pay customs duty, and you only pay VAT once. Denmark and Sweden are both in the EU, so Danish VAT is already included in the price. You drive the wedding dress over the bridge without declaring anything at customs, as long as it is for yourself. From Malmö it is about 35 minutes to our showroom in Hvidovre. Read more in our answers for customers from abroad.

How much is shipping for a wedding dress, and do you send to Sweden and Norway?

You can see shipping within Denmark in the basket before you pay, and for Sweden and Norway we give a price by arrangement. If the wedding dress has to cross the border, write your postcode to us, and we will work out the price before you order, so there is no surprise at the end. For Norway you also have to allow for Norwegian VAT and customs duty, because Norway is outside the EU. Send your postcode via the contact page, and you will get a price.

What does a wedding in Denmark cost on average in 2026, with the wedding dress included?

A Danish wedding costs around 112,000-149,000 kr. on average in 2026. A small, intimate party can be held for under 70,000 kr., and with more than a hundred guests many end up at 150,000-300,000 kr. The price per guest is typically 400-3,000 kr. The wedding dress is one of the items you can most easily save on without anyone seeing it in the photos. Get more advice in our answers about planning.

How much of the wedding budget should go on the wedding dress?

There is no fixed rule for how much the wedding dress should cost, but venue, food, drinks, photographer, music and flowers typically take 50-60% of the budget, and the dress is rarely the biggest item. If you want room for a photographer and a party, the dress is the item that is easiest to keep down without anyone noticing. That is why shops like ours exist. Find a dress that fits the budget among our cheap wedding dresses.

Who traditionally pays for the wedding dress – the bride herself or her parents?

Traditionally the bride's family pays for the wedding dress, but in Denmark today most couples pay themselves, and many receive an amount from their parents rather than having a whole item covered. Ask early what the family would like to give, so you do not plan around money that never comes. A gift card for the shop is a concrete answer if they ask. Read more about the traditions in our answers about etiquette.

How do I save money on the wedding dress without compromising?

Save money by buying a wedding dress that exists now instead of ordering one in, because waiting time costs. Choose a cut that almost fits, so the alterations stay small. Buy veil and shoes where you buy the dress, and let the sparkle sit in the accessories rather than in the fabric. With us wedding dresses start at 1,000 kr. and alterations at 250 kr. Also take a look at our sale.

Should I insure my wedding dress until the wedding?

For most brides it is not necessary, because the wedding dress is usually covered by home contents insurance while it hangs at home. If you have bought a dress costing many thousands of kroner, it may be worth contacting your insurer to ask what applies outside the home. Hang the dress somewhere without sun or damp until the day.
