Budget and choosing a wedding dress

Where the money does the most, and where it can rarely be seen afterwards.

What should we spend the most money on when planning our wedding, and can we save on the wedding dress?

Spend the most on what remains afterwards and on what the guests notice: the photographer and the food. The venue often takes the largest share of the budget without anyone remembering the price afterwards. You can get a beautiful wedding dress without spending much, and that is exactly why an outlet exists. Our wedding dresses start at 1,000 kr., and what you save there can go to the photographer. What do brides most often regret spending money on for the wedding, and where should the wedding dress sit in the budget?

Brides most often regret money spent on decorations nobody noticed, invitations on expensive paper, favours that were left behind, and a wedding cake that was too big. Nobody regrets the photographer or having had plenty of time on the day. Many do regret skipping a video and not buying shoes they could stand in. So spend the money on time and photos, and choose a wedding dress you love without letting it take the whole budget. Get more advice on priorities under price and budget.

Is it a good idea to borrow money for our wedding and the wedding dress?

No, we would not advise anyone to start a marriage with debt for a party. Cut instead where it costs most: the number of guests, the date and the venue. A wedding with 30 guests on a Friday can be more beautiful than one with 100 guests on a Saturday. The wedding dress does not have to break the budget either, because our wedding dresses start at 1,000 kr. Find a dress that suits your wallet among the affordable wedding dresses.

Can we ask the guests to contribute financially to the wedding party or to the wedding dress?

No, not to a party you have invited people to yourselves. It is not common in Denmark and is often taken badly. What works is wishing for money instead of presents and writing what the money will be used for, for example the honeymoon or the wedding dress. If you want to hold a party with friends where everyone pays, say so clearly from the start, so it is an agreement and not a surprise.
