Can I take the cut-off fabric from my wedding dress home for any repairs?
Yes, you can take the trimmed fabric home if you ask for it when the seamstress shortens the wedding dress. The fabric cut off at the bottom is often enough for a patch if a hole appears, and it can also become a small pouch or a ribbon for the bouquet. Say so before the work begins, otherwise it ends up in the bag with the rest of the day's offcuts. Read more about hemming with our seamstress.
Can a message or a date be embroidered inside my wedding dress?
Yes, and it is one of the loveliest things you can do. A date, a name or a line from your mum can be embroidered in the lining or on a ribbon sewn in where only you know it is. Write the text down exactly as it should appear, and give it to the seamstress together with the wedding dress. Ask about it in good time before the final fitting. Can I have a coloured detail added to my white wedding dress?
Yes, a coloured detail can easily be added: a coloured ribbon round the waist, a coloured underlayer that only shows when you move, or an edging in colour. It is also a discreet way to include your something blue. Bring a sample of the colour, for example a ribbon from the bridesmaids' dresses, so we hit the right shade. If you want more colour, see our wedding dresses with colour and sparkle.
Can one wedding dress be turned into two different looks on the day?
Yes, and it is the cheapest way to get two dresses. A detachable overskirt, a removable train, detachable sleeves or a belt you swap change the whole look in a minute. Tell the seamstress how you want to look for the dancing, and she will build it in while the wedding gown is with us anyway. Read more about seamstress and alterations in Hvidovre.
