Because in a Danish shop you can try the wedding dress before you pay, and you have someone to turn to afterwards. The Danish Sale of Goods Act applies, with a two-year right to complain, you avoid customs duty and long return journeys, and you get a tailor who can alter the dress. What do customs and VAT cost on a wedding dress ordered from outside the EU?

On a wedding dress ordered from outside the EU, Danish VAT must be paid on the price of the item plus shipping, and on top of that there may be customs duty and a fee to the carrier for handling the paperwork. That adds a fair amount to the price you saw on the website. If you buy in a Danish shop, all of that is included in the price, and there is no parcel to collect. What do I do if a foreign online shop doesn't respond to my complaint about a wedding dress?

Contact the online shop in writing, keep all correspondence, and then try to get your money back through your bank or card provider if you paid by card. If the shop is in the EU, you can get help from Forbruger Europa, the European Consumer Centre in Denmark. If it is outside the EU, in practice you are on your own. Can I try the wedding dress on in person before I buy it?

Yes, you can try the wedding dress on before you buy it, and that is the whole reason to visit. Use the Book prøvning button, and you will have the showroom to yourself and can put the dresses on, walk around in them and sit down.
