Wedding dress trends 2027/2028 – from a Danish bridal shop

Strapless corset wedding dress in satin – one of the wedding dress trends for 2027

Are you getting married in 2027 or 2028? Then you have probably already spent many evenings on Pinterest. We did something a little different. We followed the bridal fashion weeks in New York, Barcelona and London closely and gathered it all in one place for you.

In short, wedding dress trends for 2027 are a mix of two things. On one side come structure and romance: visible corsets, 3D lace and defined hips. On the other come simple, clean dresses that recall the 90s. And there is a new idea that many designers share: one dress that can become two.

Here is our take on the most important bridal fashion trends for 2027 and 2028 – written by us, a Danish shop that helps brides find the right dress every day.

The 9 biggest wedding dress trends 2027/2028

1. Corsets that are meant to be seen

For a long time the corset hid under the dress. Not any more. In New York, Ines Di Santo and Justin Alexander showed visible boning and sheer corset panels where the structure itself is the point.

In Barcelona the tone is a little softer. The corsets are lighter and more flexible, and some can be removed. The Spanish designer behind Yolancris put it well: she does not want a woman to feel that she has to wear a corset. It is a choice, not a requirement. We agree completely.

2. 3D lace

Lace has never fully left bridal fashion. But in 2027 it takes on a new form. Designers such as Rivini, Valentini and Elie Saab use sculptural lace with volume, appliqués and flowers that almost rise from the fabric.

Lace with long sleeves is also back, often combined with a corset or a basque waist. And for those who want something lighter, there are many sleeveless lace dresses.

3. Defined hips and the basque waist

This is probably the most visible new silhouette. The waist becomes narrow and the hips get volume – with draping, a peplum or a pointed basque waist. It gives a slightly historical, almost royal look. Galia Lahav, Danielle Frankel and Viktor & Rolf were among those who showed it.

4. Low waist

The waistline drops towards the hips. It lengthens the upper body and makes the silhouette slimmer. The low waist is seen both with full skirts and with corsets.

5. Bows

Bows are no longer just a small detail. Now they are big and build the dress. They sit on the hips, run into the train or frame the neckline.

6. Flowers everywhere

3D flowers, painted flowers, embroidered flowers and flowers in the lace. If you love nature, 2027 is your year. Often the flowers cover only part of the dress, so the whole still feels light.

7. Simple and clean – 90s style

Not everyone wants volume and bows. Fortunately many designers show the opposite: simple column dresses cut on the bias, with thin straps and clean lines. Take a satin dress, put your hair up and you have the timeless 90s bride.

8. Two looks in one dress

Many brides want one dress for the ceremony and another for the party. That is why designers now make dresses with detachable overskirts, sleeves, trains and corsets. By day you are a classic bride. By night you can dance. We call it one of the most practical trends in a long time.

9. Colours beyond white

The pure white dress has competition. Ivory, champagne, blush, butter yellow and even silver appear in collections from designers such as Monique Lhuillier, Pnina Tornai and Stéphane Rolland. They are soft, warm tones that suit most skin tones.

How to get the trend look with a corset and lace

If we had to name the two things that tie 2027 together, it would be corsets and lace. They return in almost every other trend. The royal bride, the defined hip, the low waist and the long-sleeved lace dress all build on a good corset or beautiful lace.

The good news is that you do not need to buy a completely new dress to get the look. A corset can lift a simple dress and give it a new shape. It can be worn on top as part of the styling or taken off when the party starts. It fits perfectly with the idea of two looks in one dress.

Lace can be used the same way. A lace bolero, lace sleeves or a veil with a lace edge can make a clean 90s dress romantic in an instant.

Feel free to come by and try them. A corset has to fit properly, and that is always easier to feel than to read about.

Wedding dress trends 2028: what comes next?

The 2028 collections will only be shown at the fashion weeks in spring 2027. What we write here is therefore our own forecast, based on the directions we see now.

The corset gets softer. We think the corset is here to stay, but in lighter versions – corsets that can be put on and taken off and worn again after the wedding.

Lace gets bigger and more personal. 3D lace and flowers will probably take up even more space, and more brides will want lace sewn or adapted just for them.

More looks in one day. The idea of two looks in one dress will probably grow. We expect more two-piece sets, short party dresses for the evening and detachable parts.

Colours get bolder. Champagne, blush and butter yellow have opened the door. In 2028 we think more brides will dare to move away from white altogether.

Sustainability matters more. More people choose outlet, sample dresses and dresses that can be worn again. It suits a time when many would rather spend their money on the experience than only on the dress.
